As role models for Lebanese Diaspora Excellence in Biomedical Sciences, this initiative honors the outstanding past legacies of Sir PETER BRIAN MEDAWAR (Medicine Nobel Laureate 1960), Dr. MICHAEL DEBAKEY (Lasker Award 1963) as well as the recent 2021 Nobel Laureate in Medicine, Dr. ARDEM PATAPOUTIAN. Through the dedicated prizes and scholarships holding their names we look to substantively promote and encourage Lebanese talents in the Diaspora.
This lectureship and prize is named after the 2021 Nobel Prize Laureate Ardem Patapoutian, Ph.D. The Ardem Patapoutian Lecture and Prize recognizes a pioneering researcher from Lebanon and/or of Lebanese-Armenian descent who promoted Excellence in his/her field of Biomedical Sciences. This lectureship and prize are currently pending approval.

The DLGI Public Service Award honors a personality of international caliber who has supported and promoted the development of Lebanon as a modern country and/or the Lebanese culture and heritage in the world.
The DLGI Award for Leadership in Promoting Diversity serves as a visible example of the respect that the Diaspora for Lebanon organization has for those individuals who are committed to Lebanese diversity. Recipients also promote the inclusion of those who face barriers to academic success because of societal disadvantages.
The DLGI Award for Humanism honors a personality of international caliber who has supported and promoted humanism and/or humanitarian efforts related to the Lebanese, whether those in Lebanon or or around the world.
The DLGI Mentor Award is established to recognize Lebanese mentors who have excelled in mentoring trainees and colleagues. Each year, the DLGI recognizes up to four outstanding mentors drawn from the areas of basic science, clinical investigation, education, or epidemiology. Award recipients have had a significant, positive impact on their mentees’ careers and, through their mentees, have advanced research and patient care.
The DLGI Research scholarships provides recipients with mentorship support, a stipend to students, trainees and junior faculties so they will have a productive and successful research experience.
The DLGI Abstract Achievement Awards will be available to trainees who are the first and presenting author of an abstract selected at the International Symposium for Lebanese Excellence. Eligible trainees include undergraduate students, medical students, graduate students, resident physicians, and post- doctoral fellows who meet the award’s criteria.
The DLGI Basic and Clinical Research Training Workshop is a week-long education and mentoring program. During the workshop fellows and junior faculty from Lebanese academic medical centers who are interested in a career in basic or patient-oriented clinical research with gather and learn together.
